What is The Book Stars?

It's the place for you to discover new books, champion and support the authors and stories that you love and have your say in which books should be adapted for screen. When you buy a book, whether it's on our site, Amazon or anywhere else, if you do it from this site you'll be adding a vote for your favourite stories

How do I create an account and join the community?

Juts register on the site and choose whether you want to join as a BookLover, a BookToker or an Author. BookLovers and BookTokers need admin approval.

Is it free to join The Book Stars?

Yes, you can join The Book Stars free and then you may decide once you are with us to add additional services to your account - but there are some great ways to get involved on the free accounts.

How do I navigate the site?

You'll find a menu of opportunities for you to explore the site, including using our Discover and Search page to find books, explore our author's profiles, play Word Games and more. You can even use our fantastic AI design tools to help create social media posts and get support with your writing.

How Do I Order Paperback Books on the Platform?

What are the Delivery Methods and Times?

We offer books and merchandise for delivery in the UK only. Books are usually despatched within 1 to 2 business days and may take 5 - 10 business days to deliver using standard delivery. Faster delivery times are available at a premium but cannot be guaranteed.

How Do I Request a Refund?

You must notify us at admin@thebookstars.com within 14 days of either; receiving your physical goods, downloading your digital goods or receiving your digital services; ordering your subscription; or making a submission. If you are returning items you will be resposnsible for the cost of the return postage and packing. For full details please see out Terms & Conditions.

How can I discover new books on the platform?

Head to our Discover and Search page and check out our featured books or search for titles for authors. There will also be regular promotions and bundle offers. And if you're stuck for ideas, try our 'Surprise Me' button on the Discover page!

What is the "Surprise Me!" feature, and how does it work?

It's a simple and fun way for you to discover new books. Just click the 'Surprise Me' button and then select a favourite reading genre from the drop-down - and we'll find you a selection of 20 books for you to take a look through. Didn't find what you wanted? just try again!

How do I vote for a book to be adapted into a film or TV show?

Just click the Buy or Vote buttons! Your vote will be registered in your own profile and on the author's and we'll be keeping tabs too! Bear in mind that you can only vote once for a book. Every months we will op you up with 10 free votes - and if you want more you can use our credit system.

What are "vote credits," and how do I get them?

You get 10 free vote credits every month (they don't roll forward so be sure to use them when you have them). If you want more, you can purchase credits to vote for more books.

How can I connect with other readers?

You can join (or start!) a book club, join an author team or talk to each other with our alert and gifting options.

What is the "Daily Word Game," and how can I play?

We love our Word Game and encourage you to play! Just click on the menu item and you'll be taken to the word game page. Every day we will feature a new book - and it's title will be an anagram for you to make 4 and 5 letter words from. The player with the top score of words (or if here's a draw, the fastest time) will win credits to use however they choose on the site. Be warned, it's addictive!

Where can I see my voting and purchase history?

When you go to your profile page you'll see a list of all the purchases you have made on our site - and a history of your votes (please note that if you click and go to an external site, like Amazon, your vote will be shown but not the purchase that you make on another site)

For Authors

How do I become a verified author on The Book Stars?

You can either sign up as an author and claim an exiting profile (as new books are added to the site, an author profile is automatically set up and populated with the author's books), or if you can' find your profile, crate a new one and start adding books. To creator a profile navigate to The Authors page and scroll to the bottom. Once admin has approved your Claim, you will get your 'Verified' badge.

How do I add my books to the platform for readers to discover?

Use the Add Book tool on the menu. You can add full details of your books and links to sites that your book is sold on in all formats.

What is the "Profit Calculator" and how can it help me?

We've set up some useful tools to help you with the marketing of your books. Series books are a very commonly used way to develop a writing career as it gives your reader fans a journey of discover for your books. Our profit calculator can help you to work out what you might expect to earn from your sales.

How can I create a film or TV treatment for my book?

This is a great way to showcase your story and for people (including producers who visit the site) to get a quick view on what your book might be like as an adaptation. Our system uses industry standard formats and guides you through the process.

Can I generate a book trailer or cover using AI on The Book Stars?

You can! Our AI design tools will help you to create book cover ides and are brilliant for digital presentations. Our Trailer Creator is a superb way to give readers a better insight into your story

How can I promote my book on social media through the platform?

We have some fun to user Social Media Creator tools to help you keep your social media presence fresh and consistent. Generate images and add memes, captions, reviews, text your your book and more.

How do I update my author profile?

Head to your profile page and you'll be able to access edit tools for your Current Reading and Book Gallery features directly from that page - and click the Edit button in the hero section to adit all the other parts, including you bio and images.

For BookTokers & Reviewers

How do I create a BookToker profile?

You can either sign up as a BookToker or request a BookToker profile by navigating to the BookToker page and scrolling to the bottom. You will need a valid TikTok account and be able to show that your promote books and authors on there and once we know that, we can approve your profile and give you verified status!

Can authors request reviews from me on The Book Stars?

They certainly can! You can schedule your activities to invite authors to submit their books for live reviews and giveaways and they can also request a review fro you, which you can approve.

How do I manage my review schedule and event slots?

On your profile page you'll find a schedule tab which opens up a form when you add an event. You can describe the details and add a date and when you're ready, submit the details so it shows on your profile's calendar for authors to respond to.

How can I update my BookToker profile?

Go to your profile page and click the Edit button in your hero section and it will open up all the details of your profile to change elements like your bio, images and so on.

How Do I Submit My Book to Film Events & Festivals

How does The Book Stars help books get adapted for film or TV?

By connecting the Film & TV industry with indie and self-published books and authors. WE will offer, from time to time, the opportunity for you to connect with and/or submit your books for opportunities aimed at helping start the adaptation process

How do I submit to a film festival?

Each event has different submission and selection criteria, for full information, visit the page for the event and also explore the event's own site if applicable. Usually you will be required to create a Film or TV Treatment on our platform and pay a submission fee.

Account & Technical Support

I can't log in. What should I do?

Our app uses the google sign in process so if you're struggling to log in, go to the google service and request a password change

How do I update my personal profile details (bio, favourite genres, etc.)?

Go to your profile page and click on the Edit button in the hero section at the top to access your details and update them

What should I do if I encounter a technical issue or bug?

Drop us a note through the contact form and we'll get on to it right away!

How do I report inappropriate content or behavior?

Get in touch with us through our contact form and let us know what issue you are experiencing so that we can look into it for you.
